The New eBay, Get 50 free listings per month.

April 27th, 2011

eBay.ca has made a few changes this month to how they apply fees to the auctions, The first big change is that they now apply the final value fee to the price including the shipping. This will hopefully get rid of the 1 cent auctions with high shipping costs, their is now no real advantage to having inflated shipping charges. This change is going to start on July 9th. The final value fee will now be 9%

The second thing that they have done is to remove the listing fees for your first 50 items, that’s right, your first 50 listings are free unless they sell. The final value fee is higher if your item sells but if it does not sell you are not out any money. You will be charged 9% of the total sale including your shipping charges when your item sells. I think this is a good change for most people with normal sell thru rates. If you list a lot of items on eBay you know that sell thru’s are not 100%. When I was selling full time my sell thru was about 33%. I sold one of three items I listed, with sell thru’s like that the fees for listing add up quickly. Once you have listed your first 50 listings normal fees apply, from 10 cents to $2 depending on your start price.

Don’t get me wrong, listing upgrade fees still apply, you still have to pay for the upgrades and extra pictures for your listings. If you like the extras fees can still add up quickly.

I still have a few questions for eBay, like is it still free to relist with this new fee structure? Can I list 50 items and then relist the ones that don’t sell for free?

Best eBay Name ever

April 25th, 2011

If you sell stuff on eBay I know that you have been stiffed by a buyer, they either change their mind or are just playing. eBay has done a good job allowing sellers to choose what buyers they want to sell to through their requirements.  If this eBayer purchased from me I would be sure that they were not paying as their name says:

He has been banned from eBay but his name lives on forever.

Funny and Strange eBay Feedback

April 25th, 2011

I don’t sell that much anymore but I still do some buying. I always have trouble when it comes to leaving feedback. My feedback is always boring and unimaginative. In fact I usually leave it in bunches at the end of the month and I can’t remember if the communication was good or if the shipping was slow, unless it was really slow. I am not someone who expects that my item be there yesterday, I am quite reasonable and as long as it gets here in a reasonable amount of time I am fine with that.

I think that I will start leaving unusual feedback instead of the regular boring feedback and would encourage you to do the same. I don’t think that I will leave far out stuff like some do but I am no longer going to leave relevant boring feedback. eBay no longer values the feedback system with the changes that they have made to it so why should we.

Their are a number of out there eBay users that leave wild feedback like andy46477

I am sure that I won’t be as original as those guys but I am going to give it a try with totally meaningless and original feedback next time I leave feedback.
